Click

That's the way everything sounded in my head today. Everything, just seemed to click. It's all starting to fall into place nicely. I just have to memorize more of the checklists and fine tune my skills and I will be good to go.

Today we spent a little time discussing the fine points of rudder and aileron usage with crosswinds on landings because I had some confusion as to the usage of them both, and at what times to control what movements. Josh really helped to clear things up for me.

We took to the air again, except today I got to handle some of the radio calls to the tower for clearance to taxi to the active runway, clearance to take off, and even clearance on the inbound call just entering Norwood's airspace. It was pretty cool to start handling the communications too! We went out to the practice area and did our power-on and power-off stalls, slow flight, and a simulated emergency landing again. Then the fun stuff came in. We added in steep turns today to the left and right. These are 360 degree turns that involve a 45 degree angle and maintaining altitude in the process. It is really mentally taxing keeping everything coordinated in a turn as steep as that, but I was able to accomplish both without too much trouble. We then we back to the airport to practice a few take offs and landings and a go-around. A go-around is basically an aborted landing where you accelerate, climb back to altitude, and letting the tower know you are "going around" again to make another try at landing.

Tomorrow we are going to use the double block to cover some ground material, aka book work and also probably fly out to a different airport to try some landings at another airport other than Norwood. Josh, my instructor, mentioned possibly heading down to Plymouth. A short flight down there, but it will be my first out of the practice area. I'm really looking forward to it!
