Friday was the day
So Friday started off looking rather gloomy and gray, and wasn't too sure about what to expect in terms of gusting winds and the possibility of rain showers for the day. But as I made it out to Norwood, the cloud ceiling was high enough and the winds were a little gusty but not bad enough to cancel the lesson. So, we went up and out to the Southwest practice area again where I performed my maneuvers again, stalls, S-Turns, turns around a point, and a simulated emergency landing. Then we flew back to Norwood Memorial Airport where I proceeded to practice my take-offs and landings by flying the pattern around the airport. We did this a half dozen times to really drill into my landings as I was having the most difficulties with my landings. The second to last landing was absolutely smooth and perfect.....it was what I like to call a real greaser! I just wish I could do that every time! Then the last landing was a little stiff but still managed to keep it down. I was completely stoked and on such a high after that! I gave myself a pat on the back after that one. Tomorrow (Sat) we are planning on making a short flight down to Plymouth to the untowered field to get experience with making all position reporting calls and separation of aircraft handled on your own. We'll see what happens.....hopefully I can get in some good landings there like I had today.
